MUSIC

Welcome to the Music Page!

Students in preschool through 5th grade have music weekly.  They study theory, music history and appreciation.  They learn about rhythm, tempo, volume and timbre.  Students learn to play handbells, recorders and some percussion instruments through music classes.

Students in 6th and 7th grades have Music Appreciation as part of their exploratory rotations.  They concentrate on learning different periods of music, like Baroque, Romantic, Classical Composers, Instruments and more.

Students in middle and high school may also be a member of our chorus.  The chorus students perform two concerts per year.  They participate in programs like Grandparents' Day, Veterans' Day, chapel services, and community performances each year.  Students have an opportunity to try out for the KMEA All State Choirs (4th grade and up).  Our chorus competes in the ACSI Music Festival and has competed at Holiday World music festival, solos and ensembles and more.

We want our students to not only learn an appreciation for music, but to also come to recognize the potential of music to be a venue for praising and worshiping God!
