Plans for Back to School 2020-21

TFCA is in the process of making plans for the re-opening of in-person instruction on August 12, 2020.

A Task Force made up of staff, faculty and parents is in the process of making clear guidelines for the school to follow when students and staff return to campus.

While many details are being finalized, we can tell you the following:
  • We plan to open up to in-person instruction all five days of the week.
  • Consideration will be offered to families with health concerns who may need to learn in a hybrid or virtual situation.
  • All classrooms and common areas have been measured and occupancy numbers determined to comply with social distancing.
  • To promote the health of students and staff, daily temperature checks will be conducted before entering the building.
  • Students will continue to have enrichment classes like PE, Art, Music, Computer, Drama and Spanish but modifications may be made to the sharing of supplies and/or spacing of students within the classroom
  • Daily cleaning and sanitation frequency will be increased to provide more cleaning to common areas and surfaces such as restrooms, water fountains, tables/chairs, door handles, pencil sharpeners, etc.
  • Recess and outdoor learning/play will still be observed daily (weather permitting)
  • Students will have more staggered lunch times to accommodate distancing in cafeteria.  The outdoor eating space will have more picnic tables to enable more students to eat and learn outside when possible.

Our mission is still at the forefront of all programming and planning.  Looking out for the WHOLE child and meeting the academic, spiritual, mental and emotional needs, as well as the physical needs of students, will guide our work.  We will continue to focus on achieving that mission daily which states:

"The Frankfort Christian Academy partners with parents to equip students with biblical truth to exemplify Christ through academics, relationships and service. "

Our staff have been working on training for technology integration in the classroom and tools that will enhance in person instruction.  These skills will also increase the quality of instruction offered if a virtual environment were necessary for a temporary response to any health department mandated closures.

We will continue to update families as more concrete plans are established for back to school procedures and requirements.

We continue to pray for our community and families as we work together to be succesful and safe in the re-opening process.

See you soon!
